I still have to pinch myself when I think that I spent a week in Julia Child’s home in Provence. It was a gift from the gods, an experience I still savor while the world is dealing with the corona crisis. For me it was the perfect vacation and I am so glad I went even though when I returned from France on March 15th things got nasty with the corona virus and and I made it out the day before France was shut down. This will be a two part post, part one will be my stay in Nice and part two about staying at La Pitchoune, Julia Child’s vacation home in France. Click here to continue with the story on my Wanderlust blog.

Gerlinde, I know how difficult this is being so far away from family. I totally understand more than you know as I have a son living 6000 miles away. I bet more travel will resume internationally by the end of summer or beginning of fall. Stay well and take care 5/1/2020 10:49:45 am
Wow, this sounds like an incredible adventure, Gerlinde! We've yet to make our way to Nice, but now it's on the list. I love the concept of solo traveling, too. I bet you had a blast. Plus, I also enjoy the promenades in European towns. I literally could wander into every store. :-)

I love exploring towns and new shops. Nice has so many interesting shops that you can’t find anywhere else. I like that. Stay safe !

That is so fun that you were able to stay at Julia Child's summer home. I loved seeing her kitchen at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.!

The kitchen at La Pitchoune is similar, Paul Child put in the pegboard . The new owners changed some of the utensils and put in a new stove and dishwasher. I loved cooking in the kitchen. It was very special.

OMG, Gerlinde. How nice (haha) and what an adventure. Glad you made it although news of the Bay Area haven't been all that great too, I gather.

Hi Nicole, it’s so nice to hear from you. It has been a long time. It’s awful in the Bay Area right now. It’s better in Santa Cruz, we are trying to adjust to the new normal. I can’t wait to visit my family in Germany.
