Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp
.
It’s been over two weeks since I returned from Germany and there is no question that I have had writer’s block. I did not write while I was in Germany and now I am scrambling for words that will entertain you and tell you about my trip. I had a great time, despite having a nasty cough. Going to Germany means so many things to me. I connect with my family and friends, which is so important to me especially as I get older. There is also something personal for me by connecting with my German side: the culture, the behavior, and the way of life. When my mom still was alive. I was a participant. Now I have become more of an observer. I am more relaxed and don't have to intervene as often, other than helping my niece pick out her bridal gown, which was a lot of fun. (Click here to continue reading this post on my Wanderlust blog ). Just in case you need another rhubarb recipe! Here is simple but delicious
Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp .

There are some beautiful spots in Germany and all over Europe. It is getting crowded.

I especially love the photo of the kaffeeklatsch at the farm. Gesellig--isnt that the word?

Your right Nancy, gesellig is the German word and I am back in the groove here in Santa Cruz.

I can relate to your thoughts on returning home and how our roles (and perceptions) change about these treks as we progress through life. The bridal gown in a lovely metaphor for the whole experience. GREG

Welcome back, Gerlinde. Thank you for sharing your photo. My brother lives in Germany, and I have visited him many, many times, and he has taken me almost everywhere. As matter of fact, the first time I went to Germany, I flew in to Munich. A beautiful city and I love to see how cities change over time, keeping the historical landmarks and yet building modern around it.

Munich is a beautiful city I don't visit very often. I spent more time in northern Germany and Berlin.

Liebe Gerlinde - thanks for a lovely round-up of all the things you enjoyed and treasured while visiting 'back home' with family and friends! How nice that you got to 'assist' in chosing a bridal gown for your niece!
