Do you remember the little treats that come with your cappuccino or tea when in Europe (or any nice place) that always leaves you wanting another? These tasty morsels remind me of them—buttery, sugary, hazelnut cookies with a texture unlike any other. They are delicate and will melt in your mouth. As a matter of fact, while writing this post I ate too many. Thank God, butter is in again and is supposed to be healthy. I'm all for that because I love butter. These cookies are easy to make and have few ingredients. If you don’t eat them all, they will last for a week in an airtight container.

I buy my hazelnuts at Trader Joe's and keep them in the freezer. Hazelnuts are used in a lot of German cooking.

Yay - you are back! I hope you had a fantastic trip ;) These cookies look really good - I have a hazelnut cookie recipe coming up in Sept, and I agree they make a very fine tasting treat!

I do like the taste of hazelnuts, and I especially like that these hazelnut cookies improve with age. What a nice and simple recipe. Thanks Gerlinde!

Thank you Nancy. They are easy to make and I would like to bake them with children, they would enjoy rolling the cookies in sugar.

Thanks Deb, I had a wonderful trip. Visiting my mother is bittersweet because our time together is limited.

Thanks for a great recipe, Gerlinde--I LOVE hazelnuts--and I would serve them on the same patterned plate (Desert Rose by Franciscan, left to me by my aunt). What a great combination!

That plate used to belong to my mother in law, she was a very sweet lady. I hope you enjoy the cookies, they are easy to make . What is your mother's favorite food? I loved your green eggs and ham. I used to read the book it to the children all the time, but I never thought of using spinach to make it green, what a great idea.

These cookies do remind me of ones I had while having a cappuccino in the lobby of the Vier Jahreszelten in Munich. They sound easy and delicious.

Thank you Karen for visiting my blog and comparing my cookies to the one at the Vier Jahreszeiten in Munich. Did you like traveling in Germany?
