Ahi Tacos with Tropical Fruit and Avacado Salsa

1/4/2018

I hope all of you have recovered from the holidays and are ready to tackle a New Year. 2018, can you believe it? I am speechless when I look at the number. I never thought I would reach this number but here I am, doing what I have always done.  My body is telling me to slow down as the days go by faster and the years disappear. When I get engulfed by fear of the future I try to find my happy place and one of those happy places is my kitchen where I put on my apron on and start cooking.
Ahi Tacos with Tropical Fruit and Avocado Salsa
I don’t like to spend hours in the kitchen and be a slave but I love to play around and come up with something tasty. My Ahi tacos with tropical fruit and avocado salsa always reminds me of the Hawaiian Islands and I hope they bring you all some sunshine during the dark days of January.
Ahi Tacos with Tropical Fruit and Avocado Salsa
The dish comes together quickly but needs to be prepared ahead of time. Everything needs to be cut and ready to go because it would be sacrilegious to overcook the Ahi. I usually get Ahi at Costco and I have never been disappointed.  The first thing I prepare is the seasoning, then I make the salsa. I serve these tacos with some cut tomatoes, thinly sliced cabbage and black olives on the side. Nobody would object to some extra sour cream or créme fraîche .

Thank you for the comment Liz, you could try using Mahi Mahi instead of Ahi.

Oh, this looks so good. I was particularly interested in the avocado salsa and the Crème Fraîche mixture. My mouth is watering! Thanks for the recipe!

The tropical salsa goes well with my duck confit quesadillas. I have never tried the crème fraîche mixture on anything else.

Oh yes that does chase the January blues away. I never knew you could get this tuna at Costco - may have to go take a look. I adore fish tacos and appreciate all your tips to making this a successful dinner with friends. The years are zipping by here in Virginia too. Sometimes I don't recognize that lady looking back at me from the mirror. Hope you have a blessed, happy, healthy and prosperous 2018!

:) Gerlinde, I think it's lovely that your kitchen is your happy place. It would be a good thing if I could say the same of mine. o_O
These ahi tacos sound delicious. It makes me imagine Alburquerque in the spring, where I first had a fish taco. But those wouldn't compare to these! <3 Hugs.

Teagan, I had some real good and real bad fish tacos in my time. Hugs to you!

Happy New Year Gerlinde!! My happy place is my kitchen too! All my cares and worries seem to float away when I'm cooking or baking!
This recipe will be a hit with my husband Tom in the summer when he catches fresh tuna at the Jersey Shore! Love that salsa too!

The Mr. adores ahi tuna and tacos. This recipe would make us both happy! (I've kept away from Costco fish, but with your recommendation I'll reconsider my choices!)

Deb, try the Costco Ahi, Willi always gets it and he is frugal shopper .

One of my favorite Mexican foods is (are?) fish tacos! I can’t wait to try this - will get the tortillas at the market tomorrow!

A wonderful idea to use Ahi tuna! So light and tropical after all of the heavy Thanksgiving and Christmas fare.

I love Ahi, it reminds me of Hawaii, for sure! Your tacos look and sound delicious, Gerlinde! I like the post below also about Germany, I so loved it when we lived there, and the apple pattern Franciscan plate, I have a set also. Like your new look here too! Here's wishing you the best of everything in 2018! Take care
